No Seattle highlights lesser-known Northwest rock acts

The compilation features 23 different bands, largely unknown today but featuring a fair number of familiar names in the lineups. The Ones featured Jack Endino on bass, before Endino became Sub Pop’s go-to producer for the burgeoning Seattle music scene. When Bundle of Hiss went their separate ways, drummer Dan Peters joined (and still plays with) Mudhoney, while bassist Kurt Danielson took up with the heavyweight TAD. And after her tenure in Kill Sybil, drummer Patty Schemel became the drummer for Hole.

I just wanted to say thanks for taking over Lithium radio in July! You played Tad and they never get any play on that station. The music went great the picnic I went to on the fourth. Do you know which Matt is drumming for Soundgarden when they stop in Tampa next Monday? Glad they're still coming considering what I read last week on you blog.

Glad to hear it, thanks! Yeah, I suspect TAD’s “Jack Pepsi” has never been played on SiriusXM before (and probably never will be again).

I believe Matt Chamberlain is drumming for the entirety of the NIN tour.

T is for TAD….

Unapologetic classic grunge… TAD might not be one of the first names you think of when you think of the Seattle grunge movement back in the early 90′s, but boy were they a part of the scene. I believe the first Sub Pop release was TAD back when TAD was just Tad Doyle’s solo endeavour. They were there from the start. They went on tour in a tiny van with an unknown band at the time, who we would all later know as Nirvana. They are heavy as shit, and scary as hell (probably because of their massive leader who liked to stage dive). I didn’t really know too much about this band (aside from a handful of singles) until i watched their documentary, and got to see the whole story, interesting stuff! Grunge at it’s grungiest.

If yer interested in learning more about TAD, check out the doc (on Youtube), or the albums ‘God’s Balls’ and ’8 Way Santa’ (also can be found on Youtube) and kick back in some old school flannel and get stoned. It’s the best way to do it!

Damn good hang with an old friend. I don’t smoke cigars much but when I do, I like to have one with this guy. So good to see Mr.Kurt Danielson again.

This Saturday (4/12/2014), Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Argonaut, and Old Iron will be in Tacoma!

This is the the first Brothers of the Sonic Cloth show since last fall. Word on the street is, their record is done and will be out later this year. And I heard they already have plans to start working on new recordings. BOTSC and Old Iron are also playing again on Sunday in Olympia.
