There’s stabs at a lot of people in the film. There’s jabs at Perry Farrell, who was just launching Lollapalooza that year. There was a scene that I shot—it’s not in the film, but it’s in the outtake movie—of [Sonic Youth’s] Kim Gordon in prayer mode. She’s praying, saying, ‘We’d just like to thank Perry Farrell for making this all possible.’ I think the sense of humor of Sonic Youth and Nirvana both have sort of been forgotten.
