I hate chocolate. Fuck chocolate. Kurt hated chocolate, too—that was one of the things we had in common. Chocolate makes it all too easy. Oooh. Woww. Chocolate. Oooh. Yum. Fuck that. It’s sorta like how I don’t love the Ramones. It’s a flaw. Or, I love Mr. Springsteen as a person, I’m just not a superfan. Everyone lovvves the Boss, but that’s chocolate for me. It’s just, like… no.
Courtney Love’s first art show, “And She’s Not Even Pretty,” opens at Fred Torres Collaborations today. Araceli Cruz spoke with her about how she started making art and the inspirations for her various pieces, one of which is above.
The site reports that Frances Bean Cobain has taken over control of the publicity rights for her dad’s name, likeness and appearance.

By the way, I snagged Melissa Auf der Maur’s notes from the Hole mini-reunion the other night. From what I can tell, they are:
- “Seasons in the Sun,” which they played as a trio, Auf der Maur on vocals (the back side of the page is lyrics to that);
- The bass notes to “Red Head Walking” which they played as a trio;
- Some lyrics from ”Red Head Walking” (“Kiss that girl, / She’ll cut your heart like diamonds - END OF STORY / You bet you’re gonna lose it”)
- “Use once”, a note pointing to “Use Once and Destroy,” which they played an instrumental version of, as a trio;
- A reference to the Sebadoh song they did as a trio (video), not sure why it says Smiths;
- James McNew, who I just realized was that dude from Yo La Tengo. Melissa said he loaned her the bass she used. He joined them for “Over The Edge” by the Wipers (video).
I grill Melissa, Patty and Eric at last night’s Hit So Hard post-screening Q&A in New York. Thanks to all who came! (Photo: Mel Gottshall)
And thus concludes (maybe) that bit of unseemly business. (I suspect Dave Grohl won’t be getting an apology.)
Video of last night’s oh-so-brief Hole reunion at Public Assembly in Brooklyn. I was there! (Video by Hole “superfan Greg Frederick”)
