SeattlePI.com: Kurt Cobain suicide scene: Previously unpublished photos

WARNING: Though there’s nothing overly graphic in these photos, the shots of Kurt’s sheet-covered body being carried out on a stretcher are particularly disturbing. (There are also photos of people attending Kurt’s memorial ceremony, plus some previously unpublished live shots.)

NUDEDRAGONS TO KING ANIMAL
Reserve Your Copy At Photofantasm.com

We are happy to announce that we are in preliminary discussions with the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation to partner on the book Photofantasm Soundgarden. Since this project has always been a labor of love we decided the net proceeds of Photofantasm Soundgarden will go to the Cornell Foundation charity. The details of this are in the early stages and will be announced as we are able to confirm more specifics. This news, along with the remainder of the notable contributors, will affect the distribution and timing of the book. It will be distributed in 2013 however more likely mid to late summer. Pre-orders are still planned and we encourage you to sign up for the reservation list noted above.

Photofantasm is a dedication to Soundgarden, a thank you from their fans around the world that love their music, live performances, and look forward to the band’s future. It’s a fan based, compilation photo journal, consisting of photographs, graphic art, first-hand accounts of personal experiences and quotes from fans. Included are artists, musicians, authors, photographers and other notable contributors chronicling Soundgarden’s performances from across the globe. The journey begins with their 2010 Nudedragons show in Seattle performing songs from their existing catalog up to their intimate live performances in 2012 which showcased songs from their new album King Animal. A few special highlights from 2013 may also be included.

This book is a collaboration between many generations of fans representing 24 countries who in the spirit of this project, and shared passion for Soundgarden, contributed their work for Photofantasm. Irrespective of location, language barriers, age, gender, race, social views or varying backgrounds, all these fans have one thing in common and that is the love of Soundgarden’s music and a deep appreciation for what they do. The individual impact and experience of their music is personal to each contributor, as it is to the millions of fans that didn’t have an opportunity to participate in this project.

Photofantasm is intended to capture this unique chapter in Soundgarden’s history leading up to the release of King Animal so that it can be savored by the band and their fans in years to come. Much like owning a classic vinyl record, having a tangible and visual memory of what many of us experienced together is something worth treasuring. Photofantasm is more than a fan based photo book, it’s a heartfelt thank you to Soundgarden, for their music, from their fans the Knights of the Soundtable.

Now that the general public submissions are closed the ETA on the book is planned for 2013. In the interim we’ll continue to update fans on the content of the book and notable contributors which will include ALL official POSTER ART for each Soundgarden concert between 2010 and 2012. Artists who contributed their amazing artwork include Josh Graham, MunkOne, Brad Klausen, Frank Kozik, EMEK, Maxx242, Jeff Soto, Mark 5, Gregg Gordon, Justin Kamerer, Rhys Cooper, Justin Hampton, Jermaine Rogers, Zoltron, Ames Bros, Ken Taylor, Chuck Sperry, and Lars P. Krause. In addition to the fans and graphic artists some of the other notable contributors include Meat Puppets, Mastodon, Dave Krusen, Candlebox, Pepper Keenan (COC/Down), Kevin Wood (Malfunkshun) to name just some of the musical artists; Mark Yarm author of Everybody Loves Our Town and Sup-Pop co-founder Bruce Pavitt author of Experiencing Nirvana: Grunge in Europe, 1989 plus many others. These are just some highlights of Photofantasm. We have approx. 180+ contributors representing 24 different countries to date. Some of the “guest” appearance photos we’ve included in the book also include Dave Grohl, Mike McCready, Sean Kinney and others.

The first run of the book Photofantasm Soundgarden will be a quality, limited edition, 8.5×11, hardcover, with over 300+ gloss pages between 500-750 copies. Pre-Orders will be offered to all the contributors first then to fans who sign up for the Photofantasm reservation list prior to the general public sale.
